Copycat spotted

wow… “my” Dandelion Tunic from Spring’ 2010 collection made a cover of one Russian Knit & Crochet magazine, published on August, 2011 and one more of my designs, which is Poppy Tank Top is inside. The ONLY thing is that I did not submit anything to that magazine and SURE you will not find even mention of my name as original designer of these tops… LOL
Not sure I want to know if more of my designs have started their “own life”, but I’m pretty sure they would be prefer to stay at home if would they have a choice… ;o)
Wow that’s cool , we can say your designs are going around the world because I also remember Eloisa I think she’s from Brazil and she’s another fan of u and your designs.
So your patterns were “copied”?
I do not think so. And not only because you need to buy the original pattern and translate it to Russian, but Russian as and many European magazines do not require such detailed written instructions at all. Usually the pattern takes about 1/4 of page or less plus diagrams. And last, but not least… Isn’t we pretty often do not need a pattern to make almost the same design just looking an original picture of design?! But then publish it as your own, oh well…
Is that legal???
WOW unbelievable.. the balls of some people!!!!
Even thou your in a different continent does NOT give you the right to steal someone work!!!!
Guess they thought no one will find out !!! that’s disgusting….
Well, it is obvious that they took it from you, considering that not just one but two designs are the same as yours…they did it a little different so they could call it their own, and then took the credit for the design…How did you find this out? Was it on one of the Russian boards on Ravelry or something? I would love to know who did it…Well, they say that “Immitation is the best form of flattery”. But, they should have at least mentioned your name and said something like, “inspired by design by Alla Koval” or something…
By the way, yours looks much better and cleaner work…and, I am not just saying that because you are my friend, but I really mean it…your work is very precise, and this other copy-cat is not as nice looking as yours at all. :D
is what you meant under: “they did it a little different”?! :0)))
HUGS,
Alla
one of my Russian customers send me these pictures. I think she may spotted it on some boards… I did not ask for details ;0)
Wow, that was crass, and VERY unprofessional on the part of the magazine’s management. Whoever received the submission should have performed due diligence and checked up on the design. Come on, it can’t be that hard to search for information, this is the 21st century, especially if the original design names were used! Is there any way for you to contact the magazine and inform them that they are liable for copyright infringement?
Incredible! Really mean! How do you plan to procedure in this case?
