Fruits or vegetables… Contest time

justice scale

… decisions… decisions… Could you please help me? ;o) Any opinions will
count and much appreciated!
I’ve got several requests to continue work on my fruit collection and sure
never don’t mind and so glad to add a couple more!  Also, some time ago
I was asked for a vegetables collection, which sounds interesting too, but
I should make a choice, because not sure I’ll have a chance to complete
both.  So, my questions are:

1. What’s your favorite: fruits or vegetables? … Or you’d like them both?
2. If fruits, which ones you want to see in my knit/crochet designs (so far
I have strawberry, watermelon, pineapple, cherries and 3-4 in mind).
3. If vegetables, which ones and do you think it may be some sweaters,
jackets designs too?

What about a grape to add to the fruit collection! You could have a cluster of crocheted grapes at each shoulder. I’m not to sure about the vegetable collection. But I’m sure whatever you come up with will be amazing!! I never wanted to learn to knit until I found your site, so thanks for all the wonderful patterns and the inspiration to learn a new craft, Betsy

I was thinking of grapes too. How about Kiwi or blueberries? I think those could be fun. Vegetable can be a bit harder. How about carrot, tomato? I can´t think of anything else. Hope these helps….

Alla, since your collection is for young ladies, I would definitely vote for more fruits! I just cannot imaging a princess wearing something “broccoli” or “tomato” :)
may be corn?… no, not even corn :) I guess for babies the vegetable could be absolutely adorable, but not for girls! :)
As for suggestions for the fruits – orange! with fleur d’orange! It will be so beautiful!
Also, how about pomegranate? With ruby beads…
And kiwi is great to play with colors – can be a circular jacket or poncho or a skirt :)
In any case I am looking forward to your new designs – I know they will be deliciously fabulous!

And I request not to include my name in the price drawing to be fare – I am still busy working on the previous prize from you! :)

How about Kiwi? For veggies I can only think of frilly type lettuces and colorful squashes.

    Bethany says:

I was initially leaning toward fruit until I started thinking about the shape of some vegetables. All of the leafy greens have great textures (kale, spinach, lettuce). Then there are the colors of beets, red cabbage, eggplant, pumpkin, and avocado. With your talent, I’m sure that whatever you pick will be outstanding!

    Tina says:

    Fruits, definitely!

Hmmm….how about a pear? Or grapes? Or Peaches?

    LOVE your work!

    Sarah says:

I definitely love your fruity collection. Grapes and apples would be a cute addition to the collection! Vegetables could be fun as well. A carrot would make for a cute halter. I am leaning more towards the fruit collection though.

Good luck on your decision. I can’t wait to see what you come up with ;)

Thank you so much Ladies for your Lovely comments and such amazing ideas!!! You are the BEST!!

WhooHoo, I’m so glad you like grapes too! It’s such lovely fruit and rich theme. I’ve already ordered yarn for grapes top some time ago ;) Can’t wait to try!!

Kiwi… Oh my, I did not think about it, but I’ve just scheduled it and I’m so excited about this theme too!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! :)

Irina, I totally agree with you and I’m sure that my 7 old DD will never wear broccoli top, even if just for modeling (but for babies some veggie stuff will be so cute, you are right!) AND as you also noticed… now almost my collections are mainly for “young ladies” and I think it’s because my designs “grow” with my daughter ;) BUT I must admit that missed that time, when I was designed and made lots of baby stuff, especially making them for Your own baby… oh, I bet you know what I mean. So, I plan to add some designs for babies too … as and for teens in near future ;) On the other note… I’m in Love with pomegranate idea! And not least, I have Amazing yarn in ruby red in my stash. I think some “3D stitches/seeds pattern” would be work not bad… as and for raspberry, btw, too.
And for Orange… you will laugh, I’ve scheduled a citrus already…. but Lemon ;) Anyway… Orange is so lovely colors and definitely deserve to be added too… especially if count that I know exactly what I would like to try, so stay tuned and Thank you so much again!!!

Bethany, I’m on the same page with you about shapes and colors of vegetables. I’ll definitely try something for babies… what’s a fun!

Tina, YES! Pear halter included too and I want to use this kind of yarn (http://mylittlecitygirl.com/?p=2482) in “pear” colors.

Sarah, I LOVE apples too!! OMG, so far Fruity II collection sounds so cool, yummy and huge LOL! I also wanted to make a crochet version of strawberry… but something more in Strawberry shortcake or Confiture theme… let me see ;)

Thank you so much again Ladies!! I’m SO excited and looking forward to hear more about favorites!

Wow! You are sure going to be busy, Alla! I love fruits, but for some reason, I would love to see an eggplant sweater or halter of some sort. I just love the color!
I can actually envision a celery halter or sweater, scary enough as that sounds!

    Linda says:

I was thinking bananas. Somehow with as talented as you are, you could think of something to incorporate the bananas and maybe some monkey appliques!! The grapes and apples are great to!!

For veggies, I was thinking pumpkins and maybe make it a sweater type jacket or something for fall.

Whatever you do, I know it will be great!!!

    Alicia Ray says:

All the suggestions sound wonderful and make my head spin! I would agree that fruit should continue for the girly girls and a veggie theme for babies would be adorable!
Although I went for an exotic fruit theme. Star fruit, mangos, papayas, bananas or plantains, coconuts and persimmons. I love a pomegranate. And I just checked eggplant is listed as a fruit! or maybe and all berry collection.

As for the baby line, lettuce, carrots, peas, pumpkin(i know it’s not really a veggie but cute for babies!)

can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    Dana says:

Deffinately Pineapples. There are by far my favorite. And so fun. A coconut fun fur bra top with a mesh body could be cute. Citrus fruits always look good too, bright juicy colors. Maybe for a fall veggie, indian corn lots of colors to play with there!! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!! Dana aka QueenOPina

    Julie says:

I love the colors of a pink grapefruit or honeydew. The colors are cool and summery which would be great for your way cute halters. I agree with many of the other ladies that I see little girls in fruity items, at least in the summer.

I liked the idea of an eggplant, I too love those colors. What about an onion, something done in cream with LAYERS?

    Doreen Musson says:

I support the “fruit” suggestion! So far, they’e all been delightful.

    Keri says:

I think a fruit colection would probably sell better. The citrus fruits would be way cute.

However, being a mother of twins, I would love to see something with peas (but alas, I have boys). Also, with the fall being my favorite time of year, I would also love to see a pumpkin.

Either way, I am sure anything you design will be adorable! I can’t wait!

    Thanks!

    Nicki Inch says:

I think fruits for a little girl. Banana’s cherries, watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, oranges, passion fruit……pretty much then all, thanks for the chance.

    Sharon Curtis says:

I love all your designs, and I suspect that fruits will be the most popular answer, but with your talent I was thinking about a little “sweet pea” outfit for small babies. Have you considered flowers for the older girls? A beautiful poppy maybe? Looking forward to your new creations!!!

    MARIA EUGENIA says:

    dear

Ilove fruits, any kind, berries specialy are great for decoration, to be painted or to be crocheted.
Let me suggest, some papaya fruit. if you don’t know the fruit that’s produced in the northen part of the country, i’ll try to send you a photo, is different to others with the same name in some tropical areas.
Flowers are beautiful too, but your decision surelly will be the best,
happy merry christmas and a wonderful new year from Chile, south america

    Lisa says:

OOOOH! Fruits for sure! Although I can envision the eggplant, and leafy greens!
And the Flowers – that would definately go well!
Whatever you do will be FABULOUS!! Can’t wait to see everything you have scheduled!
    Do you ever sleep? lol….

    Lindy says:

I like fruits the best – just seems more “cute” than veggies.

I think raspberries and blackberries would be cute – and cherries. I see lots of things in the spring and summer for little girls with cherries on them. And I like the banana suggestions. I think those are the most recognizable to people, so having them on clothes it’s easier to know what they are.

I’m so excited to see what you come up with!

    Alla:

My request would be for raspberries because the color could be so wonderful. My second request would be for limes, once again because the color could be so great!! The limes could also be used for limes with lemons or even lemons, limes, and oranges. There are so many tropicals. If you have done these before, I apologize, but I am new to seeing your work because of my grand-daughter.

Although not a fruit or vegetable, I would love to see the Disney Princesses in sweaters!! And I would also love to see larger sizes since I have nieces who need 8-10-12, and would love to do something for them sometime!!

I love all of your sweaters!!

Fruits would be more popular however I LIKED THE pumpkin idea also. I would suggest the flower of many of the fruits you use be used also. Many of the flowers have a very definite shape and color.
